Pleasure Ridge Park, or PRP, is a large southwest Louisville community built along Dixie Highway between Shively and Valley Station. It’s a neighborhood of family homes, ball fields and strip centers, and almost everyone uses Dixie to get anywhere. If you need a Pleasure Ridge Park personal injury lawyer, Forman & Associates Accident Injury Lawyers is right up the road. Our office at 1139 S. 4th St. is about nine miles north, usually 20 minutes, so we can meet you at home in PRP or at the hospital.

Dixie Highway through PRP is a wide, fast corridor lined with shopping centers, restaurants and side streets that lead into neighborhoods. Drivers pulling out of a lot have to judge several lanes of traffic, and drivers turning left across the median have to guess at oncoming speed. Rear-end collisions at the lights, side-impact crashes at intersections and pedestrian crashes near bus stops are all common. Our Dixie Highway crash guide explains these patterns in more detail.
PRP isn’t a separate city, so cases are handled the same way as any Louisville case. Jefferson Circuit Court hears injury claims at the Jefferson County Judicial Center, 700 W. Jefferson St. (Kentucky Court of Justice county listing). Crashes in PRP are usually investigated by LMPD, and the report number is the first thing we’ll ask for.
PRP is full of families, so many of our calls involve children: a child hurt as a passenger, a teen driver in a crash or a kid on a bike hit near a neighborhood entrance. PIP can cover children’s medical bills, and your underinsured motorist coverage may help if the at-fault driver’s limits are too low. Crashes in shopping-center lots can be tricky because there are no lane markings or traffic lights to show who had the right of way. Store cameras help, if someone asks for the footage quickly. See our car crash and bicycle and pedestrian collision pages.
In PRP, children hurt as passengers or pedestrians are often covered by PIP. Against the driver at fault, a lawsuit generally must be filed within two years of injury or last PIP payment (KRS 304.39-230). Partial blame doesn’t end a claim.
A Pleasure Ridge Park personal injury lawyer can start with whatever you have: the LMPD report number, photos of the intersection or parking lot, the name of the store or restaurant nearby and your hospital paperwork. If your child was hurt, keep a short log of doctor visits and missed school.
On weekday evenings and Saturdays, traffic around PRP’s parks, ball fields and schools surges as families head to practices and games. Drivers rush to make start times, and kids cross parking lots and side streets. West of Dixie, Lower River Road runs toward the Ohio River floodplain, where the road is lower, darker and more isolated, and flooding can close it. Crashes there may not be found right away. In any crash involving a child, we pay close attention to injuries that may not show up immediately, like concussions, and to how they affect school and activities.
Usually PIP first, then the at-fault driver’s liability coverage. Your own underinsured coverage may add to that.
The same basic rules apply, but fault can be harder to prove without lane markings, so video and witnesses matter more.
